Avast! Home edition. It catches viruses so quick & alerts you every time. They update almost everyday. Ever since I got avast I haven't had to get my computer fixed since.

It depends on how much $$ you are willing to pay. I use AVG Free and although the free version takes a while before the new updates are available, I have yet to get a virus that AVG has not detected. Of course being free is a big advantage, so paying for the latest ver of AVG must be even better. AVG is my pick.

AVG (Ranked #6) does not offer if not poor protection against keyloggers, p2p / file sharing threats, dialers, backdoors, malicious activeX controls and spamware and no p2p / file sharing protection. It doesn't have a link scanner. Norton (Ranked #4) does not offer if not poor protection against spamware unlike McAfee. However, Norton having more features than most is still considered by most users as a resource hog which is why they dislike it. McAfee (Ranked #12) does not offer if not poor protection against OS exploits, keyloggers, backdoors, vulnerabilities, no outbound email and p2p / file sharing protection. Avast (Ranked #11) does not offer if not poor protection against browser exploits, OS exploits, keyloggers, backdoors, hackers, phishing, identity theft, malicious activeX controls, vulnerabilities, malicious tracking cookies and spamware. It doesn't have a link scanner. Avira (Ranked #9) does not offer if not poor protection against keyloggers, hackers, identity theft, vulnerabilities, malicious tracking cookies and spamware.and no p2p / file sharing protection. It doesn't have a link scanner. For me, Kaspersky is better if not the best. It also doesn't have if not poor protection against spamware but is not a resource hog as Norton. McAfee got the lowest ranking among all I mentioned here mainly because it fell short on effectiveness, ease of installation and help & support. Still confused and not convinced? Follow the link below.

Its all a matter of opinion. I use Avast , I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/ V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/ V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
