Norton let a whole bunch of viruses on my computer and I cannot uninstall it for some reason and I cannot put a new antivirus on until Norton is gone I'm fucked I just really need to know of a free scan that also removes viruses so that I can have my computer in working condition when I try to uninstall Norton PLEASE HELP ME

Somehow I got a virus on my computer and it won't let me do anything. Whatever program I try to open it gives me an error message saying that the file I try to open is infected something along that line I downloaded avast and did a virus scan and it found 11 infected files of which 10 were removed. But my computer still won't let me do ANYTHING. Somebody recommended PreVX but I want to try some free ware first. What are some very good free programs that I can try other than avast?Thanks

What is this free virus scan thing?
Sometimes when i'm at a website a box appears alerting me to a risk of a virus and then offers to scan my computer for free. I try to click the " X" to close the box, but as soon as i do, it opens up a new window and sends me to a site where it says it is scanning my computer. The website looks like my control panel on windows and when i try to get out of this sit,e a box opens up saying " Ok" to continue to exit out of the site , or " Cancel" to stay on the current page. Is this free computer scan really a virus, and if so, is it illegal?

Avira antivir personla free / virus scan is taking so long.?
It's been 3hours. I was only watching video files and surfing the internet.Once it went up to 87 % then it's now 2.1 %. I think it scans twice to complete the scan.I've seen some virus scan programs that did the same. 100 % and then it starts from 1 % andthen 100 %. Finally over.I've never used a virus scan program that took 3 hours and only 2.1 %.
