Im thinking of getting these fish : 1 blue gourami , 5 guppes MALE , and 10 neon tetras. 15 gal 360gph filter and a 50w heater. well planted and 40watt light flourecencent 2 x 20w.

Nope. Those blue gouramis can get over 5 " pretty easily. Either limit it to the 5 guppies and 10 neons, or 10 neons with a dwarf gourami.

People are going to say it's over stocked... Me personally, I don't think it's that bad. Maybe one less guppy and 2 less neon but its still fine.

Its absolutely fine , its not overstocked , just swap your blue gourami with Dwarf Blue Gourami

Absolutely, you can even have a few more than that. Just remember though, with fewer fish the chance for disease is much smaller. So if that's all that you want, more power to ya. The fish you have chosen are very compatable.

I would be careful with the tetras and guppies. Tetras are known to eat fish smaller than them.

That might be a little too overcrowded. the general rule is 1 inch of fish to 1 gallon of water. since neons are pretty small ( 1 inch each) and you have 10 of them that would be 10 gallons. gouramis get pretty big so maybe 3 inches or 4 inches? that would leave you with 1 or 2 gallons left. male guppies, with their impressive tails, can grow up to 1.5 inches. you said you wanted 5. i would recommend you to get rid of the guppies and maybe add 2 oto catfish or more tetras. have fun with the aquarium!

I agree with the folks that say swap the Blue Gourami for a smaller type and you will be fine. They dont stay the size you buy them in the shop, buy a 2 " gourami and pretty soon it's a 5 " gourami and chewing on a guppy. Buy a 1 " dwarf and it grows to 2 " and everyone is still happy. Ian

Maybe instead just 5 neons. I think it would be fine if you only add 5 neon tetras.

Um... I'm against the gourami because it can grow to 5 " and will increase the bio load on the tank and lead to an overstock. Exchange it for a dwarf species or something.... Remember that your plants, etc. are reducing the free space for the fish so even though the tank is 15 gallons you don't work with all of that.

Get rid of the guppies and get cardinal tetras over neons and a dwarf gourami instead of a blue and that should be ine. S0: - 1 dwarf gourami - 10 cardinal tetras OR - 2 dwarf gouramis (male and female) - 8 Cardinal tetras Good luck
