Question: An aquarium of just guppies....?
(Posted by: Shazza on 2010-02-07 09:02:27)
I have 4 male guppies at the moment, but I would like to have a tank full of just guppies... Can I have just males, and lots of them, (about 12) with no agression/ biting problems? Thanks

Yeah that will work fine. Just make sure if you want about 12 male guppies in the tank, to have at least either a 15 gallon or more because guppies can reach the length of 2.5 inches. I would just get around 10 guppies instead. Guppies are not very aggressive and even if you got some that were aggressive, the aggressive guppy would have lots of other guppies to pick on.

Keeping all male Guppies in a tank works just fine, especially if they are all added at the same time. They'll harass a 'new guy'. They will establish a heirarchy according to who's most agressive, then they should settle down.

Yes you can. Make sure you have at least 12 gallons (1 gallon per fish).

As long as you keep it male-only, you'll be fine. Make sure the tank is large enough to accomodate them all.

IMO I'd not have all the same sex. My dad and I raised fancy guppies and we had males and females in the same tank. If you don't have a tank bigger then 15-20 gallons, its not a good idea to have a lot of guppies in one tank. You would need at least a 20 gallon tank or more to house that many guppies.
