How long does it take a 55 gallon reef tank to become established?
It has been up and running for about 2 3 months, has several large pieces of live rock, Halimeda plants, has live Caribbean sand, a Rena wet dry filtration system, a Coralife protein skimmer, and its inhabitants are 3 Green Chromis 1 small, 2 medium 1 Diamond Goby1 Ocellaris Clownfish3 medium large turbo snails This is our first reef tank and I just would like to know what is considered an " established" reef tank. p.s. We DON'T plan on adding any coral or anemones Thanks for any help Well, I guess we might consider adding an anemone or coral sometime down the road

Are salt water reef tanks easy to maintain?
In my old house my father used to have a very large salt water marine tank, with coral fish and sea anemones. Since we moved many years ago we never set up the fist tank again, and now that I have moved to college I want to start my own fish tank. I realize with the maximum fish tank size of only 20 gallons I can not support a full marine tank with fish, but I was wondering if I could support a tank of just coral, brightly colored to give my room some color and decoration? The only way I could do this is if it is easy to maintain... Please be honest, I would hate to take on a project that is not attainable. Thank you very much

as mentioned before despite not getting any answers to my previous posts I have 4 nano reefs im building up on a rack. I'm going to have a 55 gal with hanging filters do you need an overflow system? what do protein skimmers do? How often do you need to feed anemones and what do they eat? If I buy intense lighting do I need to feed them? Do I need tank circulators? How many watts do I need? I 'm gonna have a reef tankif i buy intense lighting do i have to feed any corals and such? Can I use expired reef sand for my saltwater aquarium?
I have a new saltwater aquarium, but the live sand I bought turned out to have expired a few months ago. Does that mean that most of the bacteria has died off? Even so, shouldn't there should still be some, just not as much as before? Therefore, shouldn't I be able to use it, it will just take a longer time to cycle?

Ok so i have a saltwater aquarium,29 gallons,with A tomato Clownfish ,Royal Gramma,a feather duster,watchman goby with pistol shrimp,hermits,and two conchs.Anyways I love it and all,but i also want to turn into a Nano Reef.I all ready have a standard power head that produces 170 ghs.I heard that i would need more power heads and i was wondering if the Hydor Koralia would be ok.Also I mainly want to do soft corals so would the Aquasun light fixture Zoomed work?It's hard to find T 5 lights that are 30" thank you.
