Master of fantasy art perfection?
From time to time, one person is teaching me how to paint a citadel miniatures from a table fantasy games. This painting requires a lot of attention, carefulness and regularity. I'm only a beginner painter, but I'm advanced in drawing people pictures with pencil. So I'm also a kind of artist.The problem is that my direct miniatures painting teacher, which is advanced, but not a professional are always criticising me hardly and hurts my emotion, when I ask what do he thinks about my painted miniature. Mostly he say " It's far enough from the perfection" or " It's a piece of shit, try harder to make it more perfect" . So today I've asked him " Can you tell it in softer way, for example you need to work more on this" , not insulting me? And you know what? He began shouting on me " I'm telling you what I think about your painting. I can't lie if it's bad job So if you want me to lie for you, I won't teach you at all" . I thought that he's so arrogant that he will never commend my job, because he thinks that he's only one perfect. I think that it's hard to become a better beginner if I get too much critiques each time.But can his cruel critique method be good? Does he think that in the future I will honour him, when I will be a professional painter? Because each time I don't want to ask his opinion more and more. And here's no more teachers of this field to change. So I don't have any chance to chose.
