I'm making a mixed media piece of art and I was wondering, is it a bad idea to paint watercolor on newspaper? Would the newspaper shrivel up or would the ink smear or something?I've never tried it before.

I like to make cardboard weapons and I'm really cheap so I'm using whatever cardboard I can find and I got some boxes, problem is, they're 'cardboard' color and I need to paint it gradient blue with watercolors. Products to fix watercolor mistakes?
And please don't tell me to try to scrape it off or blot it out or something. They just make my painting worse.....I've heard this product called aquafix that covers your mistakes, but it's not water absorbent and you can't paint over it. How to make a bleach contour in watercolor painting?
What i want to do is to make a contour of a figure on an already painted by me background. It has to be white and i whant to just " delete" the paint of the background to contour my figure. I need it to be detailed, so I can t use a brush to make the paint thinner, so how do i do that? thanks a lot in advance
Using watercolor to paint a sunset sky?
I'm experimenting with my watercolor in painting sunset skies. So far, things are working ok in the reds, oranges, and other colors but, in a lot of sunsets there are white tops on the clouds.I am aware that the white is usually just unpainted paper in a watercolor painting. What I am having trouble with is controlling my sky wash so that these areas stay white.I use a mask but then the clouds have that " coloring book" look of being very deliberate. I'm looking for hints that will help me get more realism in the clouds.
Is there a way to compensate for poor watercolor paper?
Using the paper that my art teacher gave me, I spent many hours laying down a sketch for the painting. But when I was testing pigments, the paper soaked up the water instantly It becomes wrinkled and transparent and it makes the pigment look grayish. Is there any way I can still paint watercolor on this and have a good picture to show my teacher? Should I try to use a different medium, like colored pencils? Or bring back the blank sketch and tell him I couldn't do anything because his paper is terrible?
