Planting a flower garden, full sun, South Georgia.?
What are some good flowers? They'd be in pots, not in the actual ground as we have a porch balcony.
How do I make very large gardens more managable?
I have huge gardens outside my house and it takes forever to keep on top of them in the summer. I'm not lazy and like to keep busy but I have half an acre of garden and the previous owner here obviously liked to grow things because half of it is dug up and the other half is grass. I want to have it looking good but not take me all day to do. As an extra nuisance I have hedge all the way around the boundary so that gives you an idea of how much I have to keep on top of. Thanks for your help.
What do you use to press seeds into a new garden bed?
I know that I can use my hands, but it's a pretty big area. I only have a hand seeder, which is fine. But I need to press the seeds to the soil for germination. I can't think of what to use to do that, other then my hand, which will really be a pain. I don't think I can walk on them because I don't want to press them in to much. I've looked all over the internet for some type of roller or something, but I can't find anything. I'd appreciate knowing what you use or some of your ideas. How do you plant your seeds in a garden bed?This is for wildflower seeds if that helps. It's not one of those generic mixes, but a mix of regional seeds, plus some extra local seeds I'm adding in.

ok, so i need something to do with my time and was thinking of growing my own vegetables and also having a lilly garden. I have no idea where to even start or how to start. Im a totals ditz with this stuff but i think it would be fun.should i also build a greenhouse? I have two dogs that will most likely destroy the garden. any tips would be appreciated, thanks

I've decided into get gardening this spring. My yard is rather big, but 1 2 of it is a pond, so there is not many garden oportunities. So Im having troubles finding good places to dig. So far, the only place i think might work is up against the front of my house, so there is shade there half day, its about 3 ft wide, and 10ft long. The color palette im thinking of contains orange, scarlet, and purple accents. Do you have any garden plans that would fit or any types of flowers that you find grow nicely in partial shade?
