Any books for children without illustrations?
I am looking for a book at the first grade level with NO pictures. The book should be with text only because I am assessing a child on comprehension and visualization. I will ask him to describe to me what he was thinking as he read the text and to draw a picture that goes with what he read. Does anyone know of a book like this?
Picture books for children please help! =S?
Hello. I am in my first year of a three year primary teaching course and for our exam we have to investigate picture book theory, merits of learning about picture theory in primary education and the literacy skills they teach children, benefits of understanding this genre, the uniqueness of picture books and why they are so appealing to children, text to picture relationship in picture books and how they support or extend each other, how the design layout of picture books works, the gap between written and visual text in ironic visual picture books what is an ironic picture book please? and finally how pictures and text convey elements of narrative texts such as plot, characterisation, motivation and setting, for example how meaning is made by reading these texts. Can anyone give me any suggestions about what I should write about please? We have to formulate some kind of argument about all of these things, in relation to the primary school, and then back this up with research and what different theorists say and have found. Any help would be really appreciated. I've got so many areas to cover, I feel overwhelmed. Any links anyone could give to good explanations for ideas relating to the points above or to information about research, theories and theorists would also be really appreciated, Have been working on this all day so far and making notes but it's proving to be difficult to condense it all and form a cohesive, properly structured argument. Thanks in advance for your help.I've already written my plan and am not expecting anyone to research for me. Just putting this question out to other teachers to see if anyone knows of any good sites already. If you are a teacher yourself, I hope you don't make personal comments like that to other people. To judge that I'm not a good teacher on this certainly isn't professional. I'm one of the highest achieving on my course, with glowing reports from my placement and am far from lazy. I've already revised. Just always nice to get other opinions from others.

The eldest who is 3 has developed a thing about " scary bats" . He is having Night Terrors and am hoping to find a book or cartoon video that is about a friendly bat? A children's book or video that may help him see that bats aren't scary, maybe one that's really colorful and playful and he may see bats in a positive light?
