Question: I need to find a book for an english assignment!?

I need to find a book for an English Assignment. It has to be on a social issue - ie. Racism, Women's Rights etc. Does anyone know any good books for this ?? I have read a lot of books but not ones that will fit this topic :) Thanks

Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt. It's about a mother abandoning her children in a parking lot and for them to fend for themselves. Excellent book and a good social issue, in my opinion!
