Why don't history books in school teach about the white slaves in America?
Convicts in the Early America were forced into " Servitude" meaning slavery . In 1723 under the Waltham Act there were nearly 100,000 white slaves transfered to the Americas. Whites were auctioned on the block with children sold and separated from their parents and wives were sold and separated from their husbands. Free Black property owners strutted the streets of northern and southern American cities while White slaves were worked to death on the plantations of Virginia.In 1855, Frederic Law Olmsted, the landscape architect who designed New York's Central Park, was in Alabama on a pleasure trip and saw bales of cotton being thrown from a considerable height into a cargo ship's hold. The men tossing the bales somewhat recklessly into the hold were Negroes, the men in the hold were Irish. Olmsted inquired about this to a shipworker. " Oh," said the worker, " the niggers are worth too much to be risked here if the Paddies are knocked overboard or get their backs broke, nobody loses anything." WHY leave out this important fact in American History?
Why and how are history books accurate?
Okay, so I'm writing an essay. I've alredy done 6 today so I'm brain dead and with a headache Anyway, I am writing to persuade the American Indians that History books are accurate. To persuade them I need to provide examples and supporting details on how history books are accurate. How to read history books?
This may seem like a silly question but I find it very difficult to read and remember history books. It may be that I have a bad memory but when reading history is different because it is more fact based than plot dialogue. I've learned from teachers to highlight and margin note but there must be a different way to actually soak up the information in historical books. Reading a non fiction story is easier because I have a visual idea of what is going on throughout the story. Once again, I know this seems like a strange question but I'm open to any ideas. Thanks
What exactly are Texas School Board members changing in history books?
Is there a comprehensive list of all the changes proposed? I saw on a petition that the Board was proposing more than 100 changes to history books, but it didn't say what they were. I know that they're putting in some information about slavery, Christianity, etc, that may not necessarily be accurate, but what else?

The Barrons SAT 2 US history book?
Is the barrons book harder than the actual SAT 2. When i signed up online i got all of the sample questions right. I also take AP US and did pretty well in the course, but this review book is very difficult. I know i will not know every question, but this making me very nervous for the test now. Are teh barron books more difficult for the test? Thank you
