Question: Camera memory card?!?

I just got my camera recently. Everytime i insert the memory card it says "card error " and i cant view my pictures. i have a TON of pics on my camera and cannot let them be erased. and like everytime i put it into my laptop and computer it says that i need to format it. but formatting will cause it to delete all my pictures. how to fix this???????!!!!!

Which camera? Where are your "ton of pics "? Are they on the internal memory or on the card? If on the card, how do you know they are there if the camera can't read the card? Have you downloaded them already? Were those photos taken with a previous camera or with this one? Do you see how perhaps you didn't explain this problem well enough? One more very VERY important question: HAVE YOUR READ YOUR USER MANUAL YET?
