Jazz songs for flute that actually sound like real jazz rather than classical pieces?
hi i've played the flute for quite a few years and i'm roughly grade 6 standard. i play flute in the school jazz band we did cantaloupe island and birdland and know quite a bit about jazz considering i have no jazz training i was picked for an improv solo for the first only jazz band concert and there were only 2 solos . I play whatever abrsm puts in the grade books jazz wise on piano, but want to learn a cool solo piece on flute.i looked on youtube and all the flute jazz pieces didn't really have a jazz vibe they all seemed really rehearsed and not really like proper jazz no blues notes, bent 3rds, slides just straight quavers or triplets or even rests . the sax pieces always sound so much more jazzy.are there any really good jazz flute pieces i could learn? preferably actually written in the times when jazz was popular thanks xxx

Can anyone help concerning jazz composition called 'Caravan'?
i heard one version of this composition on radio the other day, it sounded like an older version and it was a female and male duet, a really good version to be honest, but i cant find it now, the only thing i come across are Ella Fitzgerald or Duke Ellington versions. does anyone know who have performed this song in a duet?

How does a jazz album from the 1960 s get re-released?
My late father made an album in 1961 on Epic Records entitled Jazz Ain't Nothin But Soul. I understand that over the years Epic is now a subsidery of Sony Music, but as I'm not the original artist Norman Mapp and my dad only made the one recording though he wrote over 200 copyrighted songs, that have been recorded by known artists such as Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Witherspoon, Count Basie and Betty Carter to name a few I can not get any attention from the media giant. I'm sure his master is just rotting away in some forgotten safe. If you search Norman Mapp on Itunes you will see a few of the artists that have recorded his songs but the original album Jazz Ain't Nothin but Soul is nowhere to be heard. I have recently aquired two copies of the original release via EBAY. I just wish I could restore his voice to the music he so loved. If you have any guidance I will appreciate it. The music industry seems so large and the music of one jazz man so unimportant when compared to big business of music, But Jazz Ain't Nothin but Soul has been a jazz anthem since it's inception and it as well as other Norman Mapp songs still are being recorded and enjoyed all around the world, I think the world should hear from the man who wrote them. In a few years time I am considering living in Montreux. Now it is well known for its jazz festival, but what is the jazz scene like the rest of the year? ...say compared to other city centres, including London, New Orleans, New York etc?

Jazz Scales for Guitar?
So I know that to play the blues, you use a minor penatonic scale, and for classical, you mainly use the majors and minor scales, but what are some of the most standard Jazz guitar scales? If you could direct me to a site or list some SPECIFIC scales, I have a book with almost every scale so it would just be a matter off looking them up and practicing.
