My koi pond, what is the best way to keep it clear and not green?
I bought a corralitos moon hostas for my koi pond, is it good to be planted in the pond?
I saw a blog sites with pictures that features many hostas planted in the man made streams. I put mine in a taller pot so that kois will not reach it in the middle of the pond. It is planted in soil with compost and small gravel on the rim to prevent soil compost from surfacing. Will this hostas perform well in the water and what are the benefits it can give to the pond like the irises which balance nitrates. Thanks for any answer.

When is nyan koi gonna be out?

How much money can I expect to get for my koi?
I'm raising 4 koi right now and I'm hoping to raise them to an adult length 20 inches or more . When they reach that mature length and assuming they're in good health, what could I expect to sell them for? 3 of them are HQ Japanese Koi that I bought off of ebay. Those 3 consist of a bright gold Yamabuki Ogon, a gin rin Shiro Utsuri and a scaless sanke with dark blacks and bold red blotches instead of those orange blotches . The last one is a hariwake looking domestic koi from Petco. Anyway what could I plan on getting for these. A rough estimate for future reference. I'm raising them in 50 70 thousand gallon mud pond so they should stay healthy and retain most of their color pigment for the rest of their lives.

How to keep my Koi pond clean??? please help?
hi everyone, i have an existing huuugee fish pond i'm guessing for koi that comes with a house i bought in Western Australia. The pond's dimensions are 2 m width x 4 m length x 1.2 m height . The pond comes with a waterfall that is supplied by 2 pressure filters Pondmax PF8000 with each has UV clarifiers. I can't add any additional devices as the pumps and pipes are pretty much fixed to the pond. The pond was half full when we moved into the house and i had scooped most of that out as it was quite dirty. I filled 3 4 of the tank with tap water and the rest with rain water during winter. i checked the UV clarifier bulbs and they are still working. I have from a few weeks ago, been running the filters and UV clarifier for 24 hours and have achieved better quality water. But the sludge at the bottom of the pond remains and the water remained slightly greenish. Is it possible to get a crystal clear water for such a big pond? The pond has half of its surface exposed to direct sunlight, and understanding that this might cause algae growth, i have made some water coverings using polystyrene that floats over the water to cover the surface and kill the algae. It helps, but the greenish water can still be seen. I have also added some oxgenators valis mostly in the pond and barley straw to prevent algae.I have since last week released three 6 inch Kois to the pond and they seem quite happy. Swimming around and chasing each other. I can see them very clearly when they are close to the surface but they will go blurry when they dive deeper. The last time i checked the pH was at 7.4 7.6. I didn't do anything figuring that those figures are not far of from being neutral anyways.I can see the bottom of the pond. but not that clear. Is this the best i can get for the pond considering the depth? i find it really frustrating and annoying especially when coming home from work to see a slightly greenish pond at our back yard. Please help? ?i'm guessing that the previous owner might or could have been a serious koi keeper as this pond is huge. i can practically swim in it
